Here in Nordic Irland (I hope I didn't spell wrong lol) we have some Ayats MAN ND363F and a few MB O405, they are brilliant machines.

In Germany are Ayats very common? Are they good in repution?

ich bin überrascht, das du dieses Forum finden kann. Hier ist weder das größte noch das kleinst Forum, zwar ist es noch eines der besten Forums mit guten Atmosphäre. Und deine Fotos gefällt mir sehr! Als ich in Berlin war, hat dort sehr viel geschneit hat. bzw ich konnte keine gute Fotos machen.

Eigentlich träume immer davon, dass es in Hongkong ND313 gäbe, weil der geil sieht und gutes Design hat. Aber als ich zum Oberdeck des ND313s ging, habe ich gemerkt, dass an der Wand der Türseiten Struktur gibt, dass den Innemram verengt wurde. Weißt du was genau in dieser Struktur gibt?

Auch andere Frage, Gibt es auch Erdgas-DD in DE? Ich habe mal gehört, dass in Gotha ein paar N4426 DD gibt, aber das brenntstoff weiß ich nicht.....

Zum Schluss wünsche ich dir Schönen Tag noch, wenn ich noch mal nach Berlin gehe, dann können wir vielleicht mal zusammen kaffee trinken

魔法先生 Super Bus :For the KMB Benz O305 double-deck, as I know but maybe wrong there are at least 3 of them still in perserve, included the one in Sydney.

Is this one still in Sydney? I thought it was there for a short trip only.

In earlier times, most of Berlin buses that were withdrawn from circulation, were scrapped too. Since some years, most retired buses are sold to the whole world. Berlin old double-decker buses are in use as a city tour buses in many cities of Germany and Europe now, for example in Hamburg, Munich, Dresden, Lisbon, Copenhagen, Brussels, Tallinn and Barcelona. Some old Berlin buses are used for scheduled and school bus services in various areas of Germany too.

In Berlin, all preserved vintage buses are privately kept, after the collection of the BVG was disbanded several years ago.

Far as I know, in Germany there are only two Ayats double decker buses which are used for sightseeing tours in Munich. Unfortunately, I don't know about the reputation of the vehicles.

First, a few facts about the modal split in Berlin in 2006: Within the city, the proportion of car trips was about 35%, about 28% used public transport, about 12% traveled by bicycle and 25% were pedestrians.
Some years earlier, the share of public transport was much higher. Since the number of seats further reduced and the number of standing passengers was increased still further, the BVG lost about a third of their passengers. The BVG is of the opinion that single decker buses with standing room would be more economical than double decker buses. But this is a misconception. Passengers want seats, no standing room.
In the former West Berlin, public transport network was perfect, now it is uncomfortable and unreliable because there are too many people standing, too few bus routes and too many cars on the roads. In addition, the fares are relatively high. A single ticket costs 2.40 EUR (about 25,10 HKD). With this ticket, an adult can ride for two hours in one direction and go change routes as often as he likes. One alternative to this is a short-distance ticket for a distance of a maximum of six stops by bus or tram or three stops by express bus, subway or suburban railway, one change is allowed only. It costs 1.40 EUR (about 14,70 HKD). The other alternative is a day ticket. At a price of 6.50 EUR (about 68 HKD), all public transport within the Berlin city limits can be used to 3am clock the following day after validation, that is a maximum of 27 hours.

Last SD77 were withdrawn from public service in April of 1993. But some of them are still in service as a sightseeing buses in Berlin and elsewhere.

Die Verengung des Innenraums im Oberdeck auf der Türseite hängt nach meiner Kenntnis mit der Klimaanlage zusammen. Wenn ich richtig informiert bin, verläuft dort ein Luftkanal.

To my knowledge, the narrowing of the interior of the upper deck on the side of the door hangs along with the air conditioning. If I understand correctly, there runs one air channel.

Ja, in Deutschland gibt es auch einige Erdgas-Doppeldecker. Dabei handelt es sich, wie Du ganz richtig anmerkst, um N4426/3 CNG, die in Gotha im Linienverkehr eingesetzt werden. Hier ist einer davon, den ich bei einem Besuch im Juli 2011 fotografiert habe...

Yes, in Germany there are also some natural gas double decker buses. These are, how you say quite right, N4426/3 CNG used in Gotha in sceduled service. Here is one of them, I have photographed during a visit in July 2011...

Yup, you're right.
Those ND363F (A34) are mainly operated on Belfast <-> Derry routes, 212 and 273. The journey takes around 2.5 hours.
(Derry is the other city in Northern Ireland.)
Since they are very comfortable they make the long journey better.
However, these vehicles also operate on shorter regional / inter-rural routes sometimes.
I have a particular interest on these ND363F as only Belfast and Hong Kong share this uncommon model of chassis in the world.

As those 2nd-hand imported double deckers were all built late 1970s,
they were ageing and spare parts became difficultly to find.
The costs for the spart parts & mainteance works therefore increased gradually.

For some cases such as Guangzhou, the flyovers built during late 1990s & early 2000s were not high enough for double deckers to pass under them,
this strongly restrict the usage of double deckers in the later days.

When 1995, Neoplan had bought a 15m Neoplan bus to KMB.
But the it can't serve HK as the law of HK don't allow this kind of bus to run on the roads
When it went back to Germany, do Neoplan sold that to another bus company?

Is German differcult to learn?

1) Well, far as I remember it was sold to a company in Chemnitz but at 2007 it was put out from service . And there are(were?) some Megashuttles in service at Janssen Reisen in Niedersachsen

2) You asked a mother tongue speaker if his mother language hard to learn? sound like you ask a HKer if Cantonese hard to learn also. But honestly speaking, even Germans or Austrians said German is hard to learn, and not to mention non native speakers....

Thank you very much! It's easy to say: I like double deckers, that's why I like the HK bus system! About 6000 double deck buses and not one of those horrible bendys - that's fascinating! Middle of the seventies, in West Berlin we had about 1600 double deckers in scheduled service, currently the whole Berlin has only about 400 DD...

I think, the N4032/4 Megashuttle was in HK in 1997.
In 1994, the bus was built for "Lübeck-Travemünder Verkehrsgesellschaft (LVG)" in Lübeck (Germany, Schleswig-Holstein), there it was in service from 1994 to 1996. Then all four Megashuttles of LVG were withdrawn from service because the company was not satisfied with the vehicles.
In 1999, the bus was conferred by Neoplan for a test run to "Postauto Chur" in Switzerland, there it had the Number "P27815". Then in the year 2000, it was sold to "Auto-Fischer" in Leer (Germany, Niedersachsen), this company had some other Megashuttles too. At Auto-Fischer, the bus had license plate "LER-SC 251".

Whether the bus still exists, unfortunately I do not know. Here are some photos of it, first at LVG...

Let me say it this way: I think, it's not so easy. Many Germans don't speak or write clearly and properly the German language, mostly simple people. People from Britain or other countrys, sometimes are speaking the German language better such this...
Btw: In Berlin you will also with English language come along well.

On the basis of my informations, that's not quite right. The former LVG Megashuttles No. 51 and No. 58 went to CVAG in Chemnitz. The former LVG Megashuttle No. 55 was in HK and later Postauto Chur and Auto-Fischer.

有Solaris Urbino, 有 VDL Citea, 有 Citaro, 有富豪 7000, MAN 都有 三軸版同 LC LE等等, 點計都唔夠香港獨沽一味只買E500 掛

同埋MAN/Büssing 幫柏林做雙層車成幾廿年, 佢畀到合適 solution 既話畀佢一路做雙層車好合理丫
老老實實, 唔計張凳同車廂裝飾, 我寧願要 Lion's City DD 好過要E500/NG 羅

Some years ago, BVG has three types of double deckers in fleet. But the MAN SD202 were from vintage 1987-1992 and the ND202 were from 1995. From 1995 to 2005, BVG doesn't got any new double deckers, so from 2005 to 2009 the Lion's City DD replaced all other double deck buses of BVG. But there are some other bus companies in Berlin, which has other DD types in fleet.

So, here are some pics from the last days. At Alexanderplace I got four buses of City Circle route in line...
